AUGUSTUS WITH AGRIPPA, 27 B.C.- A.D. 14. Gaul, Nemausus. AE Dupondius (13.58 gms), ca. 16-10 B.C. NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5.
RIC-157; RPC-1, 523. Obverse: Heads of Agrippa left, wearing rostral crown and laurel wreath, and Augustus right, wearing oak wreath, back to back; Reverse: Crocodile right chained to palm frond with short fronds; wreath with long ties above, palms fronds below. Dark brown surfaces with some lighter green highlights throughout. The detail on the crocodile-- though somewhat cartoonish --boldly stands out on the reverse.
