CARIA. Islands off Caria. Rhodes. AR Didrachm (6.68 gms), ca. 229-205 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5. Flan Flaw.
Ashton-222; HGC-6, 1440. Akesis, magistrate. Obverse: Radiate head of Helios facing slightly right; Reverse: Rose with bud to right; to left, Apollo standing right holding lyre; AKE - ΣIΣ across field. Well centered and struck, with a great deal of originality through its cabinet toning. Some alluring radiance shimmers in the protected areas as well.
