SPAIN. Dobla of 35 Maravedis, ND (1350-69)-S. Seville Mint. Pedro I (The Cruel). NGC MS-64.
Fr-105; cf. Cayon-1277. Weight: 4.52 gms. Obverse: Crowned and mantled bust left, legend around "+PETRVS:DEI:GRA:REX:CASTELLE:E:LEG:"; Reverse: Coat of Arms, with castles and lions rampant in each quarter, "S" in lower right quadrant, legend around "+PETRVS:DEI:GRA:REX:CASTELLE:ET:". An interesting issue with an unrecorded legend in Cayon, presumably VERY RARE . A lovely high grade and original looking survivor on a somewhat compact flan exhibiting attractive honey-gold tone with a light orange hue. The central devices are bold and clear with good definition while much of the tops of the letters in the legends are off the flan with a small portion on the obverse somewhat muddled. An attractive representative of the type with a good look worthy of a premium bid.
