GREAT BRITAIN. George VI & Elizabeth Coronation Gold Medal, 1937. London Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-67 Gold Shield.
BHM-4314; Eimer-2046b. By P. Metcalfe. Mintage: 422. Obverse: GEORGE VI CROWNED 12 MAY 1937, crowned and mantled bust of George left, wearing Chain of the Garter; Reverse: QVEEN ELIZABETH 12 MAY 1937, crowned and draped bust of Elizabeth left. Extremely difficult to encounter this attractive, the present specimen--an absolute Gem--offers intense luster and radiating brilliance. Essentially flawless, a small spot is noted between the "A" and "Y" in "MAY" on the reverse merely for completeness. The only certified example of the type across both services, and wholly deserving a spot in a top collection of coronation medals.
From the Duke of Lansing Collection.
