Description

AELIUS AS CAESAR, A.D. 136-138. AE Sestertius (23.48 gms), Rome Mint, A.D. 137. CHOICE VERY FINE.
RIC-1055. Obverse: L AELIVS CAESAR, bareheaded, draped, and cuirassed bust right; Reverse: TR POT COS II, Spes advancing left, holding flower and lifting hem of skirt. A fairly RARE type, this specimen offers a well rendered, powerful portrait. Lighter reddish-brown surfaces, with some areas of green. Some smoothing in the fields and tooling in a few areas is noted.
