Description

PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Arsinoe II Philadelphos, died 270/68 B.C. AR Decadrachm (Dekadrachm), Alexandreia Mint, ca. 261/0-253/2 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 1/5. Edge Chips.
cf. Troxell Group-2. Obverse: Veiled head right, wearing stephane; [letter or letters] to left, tip of lotus-tipped scepter in background; Reverse: Filleted double cornucopia. A massive, popular silver issue struck in honor of Ptolemy's deceased wife, this example does exhibit some edge roughness making a more certain attribution difficult. Nevertheless, it would serve as an excellent budget representation of the type.
Estimate: $1000.00- $2000.00
