ITALY. Calabria. Tarentum. AR Didrachm (Nomos) (6.75 gms), ca. 240-228 B.C. NGC MS, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5.
Vlasto-963-70; HN Italy-1059. Warrior, with head facing and holding crowning Nike and reins, on horse rearing right; monogram to left, magistrate's name below; Reverse: Phalanthos, holding trident and crowning Nike, riding dolphin left; monogram to right. Boldly struck on a somewhat compact flan, this brilliant specimen presents light gray surfaces and a good deal of luster remaining.
