S-1257; N-848. Paxs type. Obverse: Crowned facing bust, holding cruciform scepter and with trefoil on shoulder; Reverse: Short cross pattee, with circumscribed letters P-A-X-S in angles. A popular type from this king famous for his Norman invasion, the present example offers stunningly choice surfaces and an exceptional strike, with charming iridescence adding further allure.
