1902-S Liberty Head Double Eagle. MS-63 (PCGS).
Warmly patinated in rose-orange, this lustrous and boldly to sharply defined example would do equally well in a Mint State gold type or date set. Of the 1,753,625 double eagles coined in the San Francisco Mint in 1902, exportation as part of the United States' international trade was the destiny for most examples. Many have been repatriated in recent years, often with heavily abraded surfaces that limit the grade. The present coin is above average, and sure to sell for a solid bid.
