Description

CHINA. Qing (Ch'ing) Dynasty. Fujian. 100 Cash, ND (1853-55). Fuzhou Mint. Emperor Xian Feng (Wenzong). Graded "85" by GBCA.
Hartill-22.784; FD-25826. Weight: 171.4 gms. "Xian Feng tong bao"; Reverse: "Yi bai" (one hundred [Cash]). A nicely preserved example with good definition of the characters and nice original surfaces. The flat portions of the rims carry the file mark characteristics normally associated with these issues. Dark rich patina engulfs the entire piece with minor earthen deposits in the protected areas. Overall a handsome example of this large format mid-19th Century popular cast issue sure to see spirited bidding.
