g George III (1760-1820), gold Sovereign, 1820, second laureate head right with more wiry hair, date below with open 2, legend commences lower left GEORGIUS III D: G: BRITANNIAR: REX F:D:, rev. St George and dragon right, incuse BP below broken lance at lower left for designer and engraver Benedetto Pistrucci, garter motto surrounding, buckle with incuse WWP for Master of the Mint William Wellesley Pole, French motto HONI. SOIT. QUI. MAL. Y. PENSE., edge milled, weight 7.99g (Bentley 942; Marsh 4; S.3785C). Lightly toned, dig on neck, almost very fine, housed in a modern Royal Mint capsule and wooden box with card outer box and certificate of authenticity.
