g Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half-Sovereign, 1861, second larger young head left, type A2, date below, Latin legend surrounding, VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, normal toothed border around rim both sides, rev. crowned quartered shield, die number below, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF: (Hill 435; Bull EGC 1259; MCE.583; S.3859A). Toned, with some hairlines, has been slabbed and graded by NGC as AU58.PCGS Certification 206644.58/39173560.We note as of May 2025 that NGC have straight-graded 62x examples, of which only 10x are finer; PCGS have graded 17x, of which 10x are finer.Calendar year Mintage 1,130,867. The Latin legends translates on obverse as Victoria by the Grace of God, and on the reverse as Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith.
