Description

Victoria (1837-1901), silver Halfcrown, 1886, type A5, inferior workmanship, young head left, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. inverted die axis, crowned quartered shield of arms, within laurel and oak wreath, BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, 14.19g (Bull 2766; Davies 596; ESC 715; S.3888). Attractively toned, proof-like, one little nick on the neck, a couple of tiny black spots on reverse rim, otherwise problem free, uncirculated.Mintage 891,767.
The Latin legends translate on obverse as "Victoria by the Grace of God," and on the reverse "Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith."
