A little uneven in shape, toned, some weakness at rim of misshapen part, otherwise very fine.The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on obverse "Robert by the grace of God, and on the reverse as " King of Scotland."
Edward Burns in his book on the Scottish Coinage published in 1887 mentions that the Scottish sculptor Andrew Currie (1812-91) used the facial portrait from one of these coins of this variety to influence as a model his statue of Robert the Bruce sculpted 1876-77 which stands at Stirling today.
