Description

Portugal, Kingdom of Portugal, Maria II (1834-1853), gold Peça, 1833, struck during the usurpation of Miguel I (1828-1834), bare "degolada" bust left, date below, Latin legend and toothed border surrounding, MARIA·II·D·G·PORTUG·ET· ALGARB·REGINA, rev. crowned coat of arms of Portugal centre within laurel wreath, toothed border surrounding, edge grained with fauna design, 14.30g (KM 404; Gomes M2 17.01). Toned with some light surface marks around obverse details, appealing prooflike brilliance, graded by NGC as MS61, very rare, only 12 recorded across NGC and PCGS.
