Description

Cyprus, uncertain mint, silver Siglos, c. 480 BC, tortoise within beaded border, rev. he-goat standing left, ankh in upper right field, all in shallow incuse square with beaded border, 11.35g, 3h (Unpublished in the main references but known in trade: cf Roma Numismatics Ltd, Auction XVII, lot 541, 28 March 2018, = Leu Numismatic AG, Auction 3, lot 118, 27 October 2018; NAC, Auction 106, lot 325, 9 May 2018 [light at 9.81g]; Numismatik Naumann, Auction 70, lot 133, 7 October 2018 this coin; Nomos AG, Auction 17, lot 211, 26 October 2018; CNG Electronic Auction 463, lot 110, 11 March 2020). Very rare, perhaps only five known examples, somewhat weakly struck from a breaking die, very fine/extremely fine.
