Germany Kingdom of Saxony Friedrich August III 1905 gold 20 Mark

Germany, Kingdom of Saxony, Friedrich August III (1904-1918), gold 20 Mark, 1905, Dresden mint, bare head right, mint letter E below, German legend and toothed border surrounding, FRIEDRICH AUGUST KÖNIG V. SACHSEN, rev. third type Imperial eagle centre, denomination 20 MARK below between two stars, inscription and date DEUTSCHES REICH 1905 above round, edge inscribed, GOTT MIT UNS, 7.95g (KM 1265; J. 268). Lightly toned with good residual lustre, small file marks across temple of obverse portrait, about extremely fine.

Calendar year mintage 500,173.

The German legend translates as “Frederick Augustus the Third, King of Saxony,” and the inscription on the reverse as “German Empire.” The edge inscription translates as “God is with us,” the motto of the German Empire.
