Description

Australia, Victoria (1837-1901), gold Half Sovereign, 1889, Sydney Mint, jubilee head left, Latin legend reads VICTORIA DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered and garnished shield of arms, with cross of crown touching border denticles; surrounding BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID: DEF:, edge milled (Marsh 486; S.3871B). Good fine example with light toning and some scratches, scarce.

Calendar Year Mintage 64,000.

The obverse Latin legend translates as "Victoria by the Grace of God”, reverse “Queen of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
