Description

George III (1760-1820), gold Half Sovereign, 1817, laureated head right, Latin legend reads GEORGIVS IV DEI GRATIA, rev. crowned quartered shield of arms, BRITANNIARUM REX FID: DEF:, 3.98g (Marsh 409; S.3804). Very fine example with residual mint lustre, jewelers cross mark between date and GRATIA on obverse.

Calendar Year Mintage 2,080,100.

The Latin legends translates on obverse as "George III by the Grace of God", and on the reverse as "King of the Britons, Defender of the Faith".
