Description

MS60 USA, gold Five Dollars or Half Eagle, 1811, small 5 on reverse, draped bust left wearing cap inscribed LIBERTY within circle of thirteen stars, date below, rev. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, heraldic eagle with head turned left holding olive branch and arrows in talons, banner inscribed E PLURIBUS UNUM above, value below, 8.74g (KM-38; Bass/Danreuther-2). A pleasing early Half Eagle, sharply-struck with subdued mint lustre, some faint scratches but no wear or excessive handling, graded by NGC as MS60.
