Description

MS62 Victoria (1837-1901), gold Two Pounds, 1887, Jubilee type crowned bust left, J.E.B. initials on truncation for engraver Joseph Edgar Boehm, legend surrounding, VICTORIA D: G: BRITT: REG: F: D:, rev. St. George and dragon right, small break in lower strand of streamer from helmet, taller date in exergue, larger B.P to upper right of exergue, 15.99g (Schneider 654; S.3865). Minor scratches define the grade, scattered bagmarks on the obverse yet with an unusually clear reverse, graded by NGC as MS62.

NGC Certification 5880761-005.

The 1887 gold Two Pounds was only the second currency piece ever produced, with the previous being that dated 1823 in the reign of George IV; and was minted to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Victoria's reign.
