Description

Phocas, with Leontia, 602-610. Half Follis (bronze, 6.15 g, 23 mm), uncertain northern Syrian mint, struck 615/616 under Persian rule. Phocas, holding globus cruciger, and Leontia, holding cruciform sceptre, standing facing; cross above. Rev. Large XX, ς to left, N to right. H. Pottier, “Le monnayage de la Syrie sous l’occupation perse (610–630): Complément,” 460, no. 13a. Repatinated, nearly very fine. Rare.
