VICTORIA AVG Γ Cross on one step. Ground line. CONOB beneath Sear 687. DOC -. MIB 84b2 var. 4.45 g. Rare. Thick globular fabric. Extremely fine. Ex Auction Frank Sternberg XII. Zurich November 1982. Lot 925 ”Heraclius minted two complete indiction series in Carthage, in other words the years 1 – 15 repeat themselves. For the second series Hahn could not locate a specimen of year 3. Our piece fills this gap. The coin cannot belong to the forst indiction series because the head of the crown prince is not as large as that of the father. The unbroken legend does not fit to this series either. Though the reverse legend seems to be similar to year 13, it cannot belong here, because at that timethe secon line under th cross has become shorter.” – Frank Sternberg 1982.
