Description

Ptolemaic Kingdom of Egypt, Ptolemy I Soter, as satrap, AR Tetradrachm. In the name of Alexander III of Macedon. Uncertain mint in Egypt (Memphis?), circa 306-303 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander to right, wearing elephant skin headdress / Athena Alkidemos advancing to right, brandishing spear and holding shield; monogram above bee in left field, eagle on thunderbolt to right, AΛEΞANΔPOY to outer left. CPE 83; Svoronos 153; BMC 45. 15.71g, 28mm, 12h.

Good Very Fine; a bold portrait displaying golden iridescence. Very Rare.
