Kingdom of Macedon, Alexander III 'the Great' AV Stater. Sidon, circa 333-305 BC. Head of Athena to right, wearing triple-crested Corinthian helmet ornamented with griffin / Nike standing to left, holding wreath and stylis; AΛEΞANΔPOY to left, kerykeion below right wing. Price 3458; Newell, Sidon 2; Müller 205; HGC 3.1, 893n. 8.55g, 18mm, 9h.

NGC graded XF 5/5 - 3/5, scuffs (#6158067-005).

This type is believed to be the prototype issue of Alexander's Athena-Nike gold staters.
