Description

Attica, Athens AR Tetradrachm. Circa 510-500/490 BC. Archaic head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with chevron and dot pattern / Owl standing three-quarters to right, head facing, olive sprig behind, AΘE before; all within incuse square. Seltman Group H, unlisted dies (but similar to pl. XIII, A186/P232); Svoronos, Monnaies, pl. 7, 1–2; HGC 4, 1588. 16.99g, 24mm, 3h.

Very Fine; lightly toned. Unusual and highly distinctive style from the first issue of 'owl' tetradrachms. Very Rare.
