BYZANTINE EMPIRE; Phocas. 602-610 AD. Æ 40 Nummi (11.83 gm; 34 mm). Nicomedia mint. Struck 605-606 AD. Crowned bust facing, wearing consular robes, holding mappa and eagle-tipped sceptre / Large XXXX; ANNO above; II/II (regnal year) right; NIKOA in exergue. DOC II 56; SB 658. Well struck on a nice full broad flan. Original dark green patina. Scarce.
