Description

John II Comnenus, 1118-1143. Aspron Trachy (Electrum, 34 mm, 3.87 g, 6 h), Constantinopolis. Christ seated facing on throne without back, wearing pallium and colobium, raising his right hand in benediction and holding book of Gospels in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. John II, wearing crown, divitision and chlamys, standing facing on left and St. George, in military attire, holding sword with his left hand and standing facing on right; holding between them patriarchal cross on three steps; in left field, Iω / ΔЄC / ΠO / TH; in right field, ЄΓ / ωP / ΓI. SB 1942. Flan crack , otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
