★ Outstanding Hellenistic Portrait ★

KINGS OF PONTOS. Pharnakes I (circa 200-169 BC). Drachm. Sinope mint.

Obv: Diademed and bearded portrait right.
Rev: BAΣIΛEΩΣ ΦAPNAKOY.
Male figure standing facing, wearing petasos and chlamys, holding cornucopia, kerykeion and vine branch; star in crescent (Pontic royal symbol) in upper left field; deer standing at feetm feeding on vine; MT monogram in inner field.

Extremely rare and interesting Hellenistic coin. Only 16 Drachms of Pharnakas are published in Callatays article from 2009.

Condition: Extremely fine.
