In 20 BC Augustus succeeded in resolving the conflict with the Parthians through diplomacy, obtaining the return by King Phraates IV of the insignia lost by Crassus at the Battle of Carrhae in 53 BC. The emperor refused the Triumph that the Senate wanted to award him, but he received a series of triumphal ornaments, such as corona aurea, toga picta and tunica palmata. All these elements, together with the eagle, the winged victories and the triumphal quadriga on this coin, recall the victory he achieved.
