Ex Münzen & Medaillen GmbH 9 (2001), lot 270. Mythical queen of Lydia, beloved of Herakles, who was forced by the oracle of Delphi to become her slave. In a ersion of the myth, Herakles, in women's clothing, spins wool at the feet of the queen, who has clothed herself in the hero's lion skin and wields her club, as shown on this coin. There are numerous depictions in Pompeian paintings; the oldest is on an archaic relief from Taranto
