SELEUKID KINGDOM. Seleukos I Nikator (312-281 BC). Tetradrachm. Uncertain mint.

Obv: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; c/m: BY above prow within incuse circle.
Rev: ΣΕΛΕΥΚΟΥ / ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ.
Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and sceptre. Uncertain control(s).

Cf. CNG E-419, lot 45 (for a similar c/m on a tetradrachm of Alexander III).

Very rare countermark.

Condition: Fair.

Weight: 16.61 g.
Diameter: 27 mm.
