KINGS OF THRACE. Mostis (Circa 125-86 BC). AR Tetradrachm. Dated year 35 (105/4 BC).

Obv: Diademed and draped bust right.
Rev: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ MOΣTIΔΟΣ / EΠΙ ΣΑΔΑΛΟΥ ΕΤΟΥΣ EΛ.
Athena seated left, left arm resting on shield, holding crowning Nike; monogram to inner left.

SNG Black Sea 309 var. (monogram and date); SNG Stancomb -; HGC 3.2, 1727.

Extremely rare. Mostis was the king of Caeni, ruling over territories in South East Thrace. He is known almost exclusively from his coins, usually bronze pieces and very rarely silver tetradrachms like this one
