★ Extremely Rare Autonomous Issue from Phoenice ★

EPIRUS. Phoenice. Pseudo-autonomous (1st-2nd centuries). Ae.

Obv: ΦΟΙΝЄΙΚΗ.
Turreted and draped bust of Tyche right.
Rev: AΠO HΠЄIPON.
Hermes standing left, holding purse and caduceus.

Numismatik Naumann 56, lot 322 (which realized a hammer of €500); otherwise unpublished.

The present example allows for a clear reading of the reverse legend and confirms that this is Phoenice in Epirus.

Condition: Very fine.

Weight: 2.9 g.
Diameter: 15 mm.
