CRUSADERS. Baldwin II of Courtenay ? (1240-1261). GOLD Hyperpyron. Copying the hyperpyra of John III Ducas (Magnesia).

Obv: IC - XC.
Christ enthroned facing, raising right hand in benediction and holding Book of Gospels; trefoil of pellets to right.
Rev: Emperor on left, wearing loro and holding akakia and labarum, crowned by Virgin on right.

Metcalf p. 229; cf. Sear 2073 (for prototype).

Condition: Very fine.

Weight: 4.27 g.
