★ Powerful Portrait of Vitellius ★

VITELLIUS (69). Denarius. Rome.

Obv: A VITELLIVS GERMANICVS IMP.
Bare head right.
Rev: CONCORDIA PR.
Concordia seated left on throne, holding patera and cornucopia.

RIC² 66.

In an interesting move, the engraver of this coin apparently rendered the legend on the obverse die as 'VITELLIVC,' but altered the C to an S in order to correct it.

Condition: Good very fine.

Weight: 3.48 g.
Diameter: 18 mm.
