RUSSIA. Peter I 'the Great' (1682-1725). Medal (1704). Commemorating the Foundation of Kronshtadt.

Obv: HIBERNO TEMPORE NIDIS INCVBAT ALCYONE / TVM VIA TVTA MARIS / Ovid Metam.
Athena standing left, head turned toward the background, observing two ships under sail left on the calm sea and pointing at a nesting halcyon; instruments of navigation to lower left; MARIS FINNICI / SECVRITAS in two lines in exergue.
Rev: PALLAS QVAM CONDIDIT ARCEM IPSA COLIT Virg.
Façade of the fortifications at Kronshtadt; in four lines in exergue, CRON SCHLOS / MEDIA HIEME A RVSS IMPE / RATORE EXTRVCT / MDCCIIII.
