Byzantine Pb Seal (Pb, 27mm, 14.90g) of Nikephoros Botaneiates, kouropalates (c. 1074-1077).
Obv: St. Demetrios standing, holding a spear and shield. Remains of an inscription at left and right: [Ὁ ἅγιος Δημή]τριος. Border of dots.
Rev: Inscription of seven lines: Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Νικ[η]φόρῳ κ[ουρο]παλάτῃ τῷ Βοτανειάτῃ. Border of dots.
Translation: St Demetrios. / Lord aid your servant Nikephoros Botaneiates, kouropalates.

This is the future emperor Nikephoros III (1078-1081). His career has been outlined by Zacos-Veglery, no. 2687. He is first mentioned as kouropalates in 1074.
