Russia Cross FOR THE SERVICE IN THE CAUCASUS 1864. gilded cross(За службу на Кавказе). Averse: FOR THE SERVICE | IN THE CAUCASUS. Description of the obverse: A four-pointed cret with broadened ends; in the center of it is a round shield with the image of the Russian state emblem; the shield is crossed by two crossed swords. On the upper beam of the cross is the monogram of Alexander II; crowned with the Imperial crown; on the left there is an inscription FOR SERVICE; on the right; as a continuation of the inscription TO THE CAUCASUS. on the lower one 1864. Bronze gilded. The screw-on gilded; two part gray-painted version was; to my knowledge; provided to unterofficers (simple brass stitching for soldiers- one part; silver for officers).
