A Roman Disk-Shaped Gold Earring
Circa 2nd century AD.
Slightly domed earring decorated with (twisted) gold wire; with central setting (stone or glass missing). Hook bent and almost broken off. Some earthen deposits.
H 21 mm, Diameter 12 mm (disk); Gold! 1.35 g Ex European private collection, acquired between 1990 and 2005.
