A Roman Bronze Base with Inscription
Circa 1st-3rd century AD.
Rectangular, moulded base of a statuette inscribed ΜΕΙC ΓΑΛΑΤΙΚΟC. The term 'Galatikos' is used to describe something or someone that is of or pertaining to Galatia, a region in central Asia Minor.
L 39 mm, W 33 mm, H 19 mm Acquired on the UK art market before 2021. Ex old European private collection.
