A Byzantine Gilt Bronze Pendant with an Archangel
Circa 11th-13th century AD.
Openwork pendant in the shape of a facing angel in relief, with long wings and an elaborate robe decorated with a punched design. He is holding a sceptre in his right hand and a globe cruciger in his left.
H 47 mm Ex private European collection, acquired on the German art market between 1998 and 2005.
