A Roman Bronze Phallic Amulet Pendant
Circa 2nd-3rd century AD.
With a pointed tip representing the foreskin and an offset glans; a suspension loop at the top. These amulets (fascina) were thought to bring good luck and ward off evil spirits. Somewhat rough patina with earthen deposits.
L 37 mm Ex private European collection, acquired on the German art market between 1998 and 2005.
