A LATE ROMAN BRONZE CROSSBOW BROOCH
Circa 4th century AD.
With arched bow and onion-shaped terminals ('Zwiebelknöpfe'). The top of the bow and the foot with incised decoration, the foot further adorned with punched ring-and-dot motifs and notched edges. With hinged pin. Central knob and pin ancient but probably not belonging.
L 79 mm Ex European private collection, acquired on the German art market in the late 1990s.
