A ROMAN BRONZE BUST OF AN ATHLETE
Circa 2nd-3rd century AD.
Steelyard weight in the form of the bust of an athlete wearing a cap. He features short hair parted in the middle, a furrowed brow, deep set eyes and a hooked nose. Attractive green patina. Filled with lead. At the top, remains of iron where the suspension loop was attached; open at the bottom. Minor damage to lower edge and two cracks.
