★ Very Rare Brooch ★
A MAGNIFICENT ROMAN SILVER HARE AND HOUND BROOCH
Circa 2nd-3rd century AD.
Detailed openwork plate brooch. The brooch shows in high relief a hound with collar hunting a hare. The eyes are punched, the fur is indicated by short incisions. With hinged pin. One lug of the hinge had broken in antiquity and was repared with a rivet (rivet visible on the hind leg of the hound). Slightly rough and worn surface with some deposits.
