A ROMAN BRONZE CHARIOT FITTING WITH TWO HORSES
Circa 2nd-3rd century AD.
Elaborately decorated high-quality openwork fitting with two horses and a palm tree within a ribbed circular frame. In the centre, a palm tree with large, curved branches, flanked by two horses probably eating or chewing palm leaves. The scene is set on an uneven baseline representing the ground. Centrally below, a further floral element. On the back, a large C-shaped loop for attachment. Bottom part broken.
