A LID OF A GREEK APULIAN GLOBULAR RED-FIGURED PYXIS Circa 2nd half of 4th century BC. The hemispherical lid has a pomegranate-shaped knob and an inset rim. It is decorated with the head of a woman in profile wearing a sakkos on one side, and a palmette on the other. Handwritten collector's mark on the inside. H 75 mm, Diameter 92 mm
Ex private collection Prof. Zweymüller, Vienna. Sold at Christie's London 1975. Before, Nostell Priory Collection, Yorkshire. Acquired by Charles Winn, 8th Baronet of Nostell, from Naples in 1819 and sailed for England on 9th February 1819.
