KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 24.5 mm, 17.14 g, 12 h), lifetime issue, Babylon, 331-325. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. AΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and, in his right, eagle standing right with closed wings; to left, Φ; below throne, M. Price 3581. With an impressively heavy toning; a coin of fine style and struck in high relief. Rare early issue from Babylon. Graffito under tone on the reverse, otherwise, good very fine.
