LUCANIA. Metapontum. Circa 330-290 BC. Didrachm or nomos (Silver, 21.5 mm, 7.88 g, 11 h). Head of Demeter to left, wearing grain wreath, triple-pendant earring and pearl necklace; below chin, ΔΩPI. Rev. ΜΕΤΑ Ear of barley with leaf to left; above leaf, rake; below leaf, ΑΔ. HN III 1582. Johnston Class C, 5.4 ( same dies ). SNG ANS 452. An elegant coin, well struck in fine silver. Usual die fault on the reverse, roughness and marks, otherwise, extremely fine.
